A Kitchen Dream That Became a Community Favorite
Cafe Rio was born in 2016 from a simple belief: that everyone deserves a meal made with genuine care. Our founder, Maria Vasquez, started with a handful of beloved family recipes, a tiny kitchen, and an unshakeable commitment to bringing bold, honest flavors to the Palmdale community.
What began as a neighborhood lunch spot quickly grew into something much more — a place where regulars become friends, where birthdays are celebrated, and where every plate tells a story. Today we serve thousands of guests each month, but our philosophy remains exactly the same as day one: fresh, flavorful food made with heart.

-
Community at Our Core We actively support local events, schools, and nonprofits throughout the Antelope Valley.
Our Core Values
Every decision we make — from ingredient sourcing to how we greet you at the door — is guided by four principles.
Freshness First
We never compromise on ingredient quality. From crisp vegetables to premium proteins, freshness defines every dish we serve.
Cooked with Heart
Our kitchen team pours real passion into every recipe. We believe food tastes better when it's made with love and intention.
Community Roots
Palmdale is our home. We invest in local suppliers, hire local talent, and give back to the neighborhood that made us who we are.
Excellence Always
Good enough is never good enough for us. We relentlessly pursue quality in every plate, service, and guest interaction.

Doors Open for the First Time

Best New Restaurant — Antelope Valley Press
Within our first year, Cafe Rio earns recognition from the Antelope Valley Press as the area's best new restaurant. The award brings a wave of new guests and validates everything the team has worked toward.
Catering & Events Division Launched
Responding to growing demand from local businesses and families, we launched our dedicated catering service. In our first year of catering, we served over 80 events throughout the Antelope Valley.
Menu Expands to 100+ Items
Head Chef James Okafor joins the team and leads a major menu expansion, introducing new seasonal specials, a dedicated vegetarian menu, and our now-legendary weekend brunch lineup.
Community Relief & Online Ordering Launch
During a difficult year for the hospitality industry, Cafe Rio launched online ordering and donated over 3,000 meals to local healthcare workers and families in need across Palmdale and Lancaster.
Kitchen Renovation & Dining Room Expansion
We invested in a full kitchen upgrade and expanded our dining room to accommodate 40 additional guests. The renovation also introduced a dedicated private dining space for corporate and family events.
50,000 Guests Milestone & New Partnerships
Cafe Rio celebrates serving its 50,000th guest and formalizes partnerships with five local California farms for year-round ingredient sourcing. We also launch our loyalty program, rewarding our most dedicated regulars.
Growing Stronger, Staying True
With a full menu of over 120 items, a thriving catering arm, and a community that's become family, Cafe Rio continues to grow — always guided by the same principles Maria set on day one: freshness, heart, and community.
